ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), announced on Thursday that discussions are underway with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) regarding a potential election alliance. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Rehman emphasized the priority of forging a strong electoral partnership.
Expressing discontent with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Rehman questioned the necessity of the electoral watchdog if the election schedule is determined by court rulings. He criticized the recent practice of confiscating nomination papers, stating that such actions contribute to voter unrest, potentially diminishing voter turnout.
Highlighting the current state of the country, Rehman voiced concerns about its economic stability, asserting that Pakistan is once again on the brink of default. Turning his attention to international relations, he underscored the crucial need for stability in Afghanistan and expressed a commitment to restoring ties between Pakistan and its neighbor.
