ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday returned to Islamabad after completing his two-day visit to Portugal, where he offered condolence on the demise of Prince Karim Aga Khan.
While in Lisbon, the president met with Prince Rahim Aga Khan to offer Fateha and the President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
In a meeting with the Portuguese President, both leaders exchanged views on matters of bilateral importance and emphasized the need to further deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields.
President Zardari stated that Pakistan attached great importance to its ties with Portugal and the two countries enjoy cordial bilateral relations.
The two leaders discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation and promoting cultural and people-to-people relations. President Zardari invited President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient time.
During the visit, President Zardari also had a brief interaction with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a brief stopover at Istanbul Airport en route to Lisbon.
