ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari is embarking on a two-day official visit to Turkmenistan today, where he will participate in the International Forum titled “Interrelation of Times and Civilizations – Basis of Peace and Development” in Ashgabat.

The International Forum is being held to mark the 300th birth anniversary of Magtymguly Faragi, a great Turkmen thinker, poet, and philosopher, the Foreign Ministry added.

This forum, held on October 10-11, 2024, aims to promote dialogue and cooperation among civilizations, echoing the United Nations’ recent adoption of a resolution declaring June 10 as the ”International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations”.

During the forum, President Zardari is expected to emphasize the significance of peace, unity, and development for the region.

In addition, he will engage in bilateral meetings with Turkmen leaders, fostering cooperation and strengthening ties between the two nations.

Notably, other prominent world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, will also participate in the forum.

The event provides a platform for global leaders to discuss and promote values of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect, recognizing the collective heritage of human civilizations.

By addressing this forum, President Zardari will underscore Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and development, while also exploring opportunities for cooperation with Turkmenistan and other participating nations.
