RAHIM YAR KHAN: JUI-F chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman has said that the presidential system in the country has failed in the past, and it cannot work in the future either. If the elections are transparent, the public mandate will be respected.
Addressing a press conference in Rahim Yar Khan, he said that if the provinces are divided keeping in mind the ground realities, there is no problem, but such a move on political grounds will create chaos.
He said that the presidential system has failed in this country before, Pakistan’s future is linked only to the parliamentary system.
The JUI-F chief further said that public opinion was not respected in the 2018 and 2024 elections, and if the elections were held on merit, the country would not have suffered from inflation and exploitation today.
Maulana Fazal ur Rehman termed the talks with PTI as a positive step in politics but clarified that every party has the democratic right to protest, but within the ambit of the law.
Talking about the registration of madrassas, he said that the law has been passed by the National Assembly and Senate, but implementation is not possible.
He said that if the institutions work within their constitutional limits, we welcome it, but playing with the constitution will not be tolerated.
He also criticized the Punjab government’s announcement of giving honorariums to scholars and said that this act is an insult to scholars, no one is exempted in Sharia, accountability should be equal for all.
