ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced blocking of mobile phone SIMs registered in the names of deceased individuals from tomorrow, October 16.
As per the details, the authority shared a statement on social media saying that its operation against illegal SIMs has now entered the third phase.
It said that the families of the deceased have been given time till October 15 to transfer the sims in their names. Families can also move in on the last day of the deadline.
A PTA spokesperson said ownership of a SIM can be changed by providing the deceased’s death certificate, proof of relationship and original SIM documents.
In the second phase, the PTA had already blocked SIMs issued against pre-2017 expired ID cards.
