ATTOCK: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Azam Swati has been re-arrested outside Attock district jail by Taxila police in connection with a case registered under terrorism and other acts related to a party protest last month.

This development comes despite the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) ordering his release yesterday in the same protest case.

ATC Judge Abul Hasnat accepted Swati’s post-arrest bail plea, requiring surety bonds of Rs 20,000 each. However, it appears that Swati’s legal troubles are far from over. Earlier this year, a special court issued an arrest warrant for Swati in connection with a controversial tweet.

The recent arrest highlights the ongoing challenges faced by PTI leaders amidst political tensions in Pakistan. Swati’s case is a significant example, demonstrating the complexities of the country’s judicial system and the intersection of politics and law.

The FIA had earlier issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Swati on May 30, 2023, after he failed to appear in court. His continued disappearance from court hearings led to the recent directive from Judge Shahrukh Arjumand.

The case highlights the ongoing tensions between PTI leaders and the government, with Swati’s tweets sparking controversy and legal repercussions.
