DRAP prohibits Famila Abortion injection Batch 083

ISLAMABAD: The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has issued a complete ban on the sale and distribution of abortion drug Famila Injection Batch 083, following concerns over its quality.

DRAP issued a “recall alert” and directed pharmacies across Pakistan to immediately stop selling the batch and directed that all available stock be returned to the Karachi-based manufacturer, Zafa Pharmaceutical Company. To be given.

The decision came after a federal drug inspector in Karachi took samples of Famila 150 mg injection for testing. Batch 083 was later declared substandard by the Central Drugs Laboratory, Karachi.

In response, DRAP ordered Zafa Pharmaceuticals to stop further distribution of the batch and directed the National Regulatory Field Force to intensify market surveillance to ensure compliance.

Additionally, DRAP advises healthcare providers and patients to avoid using Famila Injection Batch 083 until further notice, emphasizing patient safety as the top priority. Pharmacies have been directed to immediately return all stock of the affected batch to the manufacturer.
