ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a historic hunger strike outside the Parliament House today to protest against what it claims are atrocities committed against the party.
According to the details, the hunger strike camps of Imran Khan’s party will be positioned in front of Parliament House and the Punjab Assembly. Opposition leader in the NA Omar Ayub will be the leader of this strike. This hunger strike will continue from 3 pm to 7 pm today.
Moreover, the Sunni Ittehad Council has also decided to establish a hunger strike camp in Punjab.
Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly, Malik Ahmad Bachhar, stated that the decision of hunger strike was collectively made by PTI founder Imran Khan and parliamentary leader, Mian Aslam Iqbal.
This strike aims to revive and release the party founder Imran Khan and to show sympathy with the social media activists that are arrested.
Earlier, former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan faced ill-treatment in jail due to which he announced to go on hunger strike.
Former PM Khan has reported such treatment several times during the hearing in the courts. Imran said, “How can we resolve differences if people are not allowed to meet me? I am going on a hunger strike due to the mistreatment I am facing in jail.”
Political parties in Pakistan have used this method many times in history to showcase their determination or to draw attention to a specific issue. Allowing them to move towards the solution of a problem.
