ISLAMABAD: Internal differences within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa intensified after a senior party official resigned, citing differences over leadership style and decision-making.

PTI’s provincial joint secretary Engineer Khaista Muhammad resigned from his post, saying his resignation was due to differences with the provincial leadership.

In his statement, Khaista Muhammad alleged that an “authoritarian culture” had developed within the party, and claimed that important decisions were being taken without consulting the provincial cabinet.

He added that organizational matters were being handled without proper consultation, adding that the notification of appointments in the Malakand region was also issued without involving the party officials concerned.
