ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Sania Nishtar has resigned from her Senate seat, which she held since 2021 after being elected from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to sources, her resignation was submitted to the Senate Secretariat, reportedly due to her new role at an international organization in Geneva. Sania Nishtar is known for her remarkable work in health and social welfare.
Earlier this year, Dr. Nishtar was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Dr. Nishtar’s association with Gavi includes serving as the Chair of Gavi’s Evaluation Advisory Committee from 2011 to 2014 and being an independent member of Gavi’s Board in 2016.
Her expertise in health policy has been recognized globally, and she’s been involved with various international organizations, including the World Health Organization and the World Economic Forum.
Dr. Nishtar’s resignation from the Senate marks a significant transition in her career, and her new role at Gavi will undoubtedly leverage her expertise to make a meaningful impact on global health.
