PTI to boycott by-election on May 9 conviction vacated seats

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has decided to boycott the by-elections on the seats vacant after the conviction in the May 9 cases.

According to sources, the PTI has instructed its leaders to withdraw their nomination papers. It has been further clarified in this regard that no one will contest the by-elections.

According to sources, the PTI will contest the election in the NA-129 seat vacant after the death of Mian Azhar.

The papers were submitted for the vacant seat of the Punjab Assembly PP-87. Similarly, PTI leaders submitted papers on the vacant seat of NA-66.

On the other hand, the Election Commission has released the interim list of candidates who have filed nomination papers in NA-129 Lahore, according to which a total of 27 candidates have filed nomination papers.

According to the interim list, PTI leaders Hammad Azhar, Owais Anjum, and Mian Jamil have filed nomination papers. Similarly, PML-N leaders Rana Mashhood and Hafiz Mian Muhammad Noman have filed their nomination papers, while Tahira Jalib, daughter of Habib Jalib, and Asif Nagra have filed their nomination papers from the PPP.

According to the Returning Officer, the scrutiny of nomination papers will begin tomorrow, August 8. The by-election in NA-129 Lahore will be held on September 18. This seat fell vacant due to the death of Mian Azhar.
