PTI welcomes General Asim Munir’s promotion to Field Marshal

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has extended its congratulations to General Syed Asim Munir on being promoted to the rank of Field Marshal.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar welcomed the decision to make  General Syed Asim Munir a Field Marshal in a statement.

He said that PTI appreciates the role of the armed forces against India, and the Pakistani forces responded with the best strategy against India.  He said that Asim Munir played a decisive role in the current tension against India.

Earlier, the government of Pakistan promoted Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal on Tuesday.

The promotion was confirmed by the federal Cabinet on the proposal by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The decision is in acknowledgment of his outstanding military leadership during Pakistan’s recent triumph in the Battle of Haq, which followed an unjustified war forced by India on the night of May 6 and 7.

In another significant move, the government has chosen to prolong the tenure of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, appreciating his contributions and leadership throughout the recent battle.
