QUETTA: The government of Balochistan has announced a public holiday on Saturday, 6th September, throughout the province to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) and Defence Day.

The Balochistan Services & General Administration Department (S&GAD) issued a formal notification in this regard. Government offices, schools, and most private organisations will be closed on Saturday.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi is the Islamic festival that commemorates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

It is observed on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi’ al-Awwal by many Muslims around the world.

The day is marked with religious gatherings, prayers, sermons, and recitations of the Prophet’s (Peace Be Upon Him) life and teachings, emphasizing his message of peace, compassion, and guidance for humanity.

The move by the government is intended to enable citizens to mark this important religious event with appropriate respect and involvement in associated events and activities across the country.

Earlier, the Sindh government had declared two public holidays on September 5 and 6 in accordance with Eid Milad un Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him).

All government offices and educational institutions throughout the province will be closed on these two days, as per a notification.

Yesterday, the federal government made September 6 (Saturday) a public holiday on the eve of 12th Rabi ul Awal on the observance of Eid Milad un Nabi (PBUH).
