LAHORE: The Punjab government has unveiled a significant move to help nursing graduates by establishing organized internship programmes along with monetary incentives.
According to the new policy, graduates with BSN nursing degrees will be given a monthly stipend during the compulsory internship year. The financial assistance will be equivalent to the minimum salary of a charge nurse and will be disbursed by the Health Foundation.
Priority for internships shall be accorded to graduates from government nursing colleges with teaching hospital affiliation. When vacancies are still available, graduates from other government nursing colleges shall also be accommodated.
The internship will be one year long and will be done in various hospital departments to give hands-on training, officials said. The government has made it compulsory to ensure practical training for nursing graduates before they join the profession.
