PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has approved a one-year paid internship program for 650 BS Nursing graduates under the Provincial Health Services Academy (PHSA).
The interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs31,000 and will undergo training in teaching hospitals across the province.
In an official statement, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Health Ehtesham Ali noted that this is the first time that a paid internship opportunity has been introduced for BS Nursing graduates. He explained that the need for such a program arose after the launch of BS Nursing programs in PHSA-affiliated colleges, which will prompt action by the health department to seek cabinet approval.
“Just a month ago, I assured the protesting students that a paid internship would be established within a month. Today, we have kept that promise,” said Ehtesham Ali.
The cabinet also approved the appointment of a new chairman for the PEPOS board and approved its reconstitution.
