Punjab CM announces comprehensive arrangements for basant in Lahore

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that all relevant agencies are mobilized to make the Basant festival safe and enjoyable.

She confirmed that the best traffic plan has been prepared for the citizens in Lahore so that people can travel without any worries on the day of Basant.

According to Maryam Nawaz, this year Basant will be celebrated on February 6, 7 and 8 and during this time, the culture of Punjab will be highlighted in a full manner.

For the safety of the citizens, free wires are being provided to 1 million motorcycle riders to protect them from the strings.

621 cases of Basant have already been registered, and strict punishment will be imposed for violating the prescribed size of the string or kite.

The Chief Minister clarified that the use of spinning strings will not be allowed during Basant. Violators will face 5 years in prison and a fine. In addition, kites larger than 35 inches and kites larger than 40 inches will not be allowed.

Additionally, 500 free buses will be operated in Lahore during the days of Basant so that citizens can travel easily.

The Chief Minister said that all these measures are being taken for the safety and happiness of the people so that the festival of Basant can be celebrated with traditional enthusiasm.
