LAHORE: The Chief Minister of Punjab has declared the Sikh community exempt from the law on wearing helmets on bikes, and also announced to increase the number of minority cards from 75,000 to 100,000.

On this occasion, Maryam Nawaz announced to exempt the Sikh community, a part of the minority community, from the law on wearing helmets on bikes because of wearing turbans.

She said that Pakistan has truly made minorities the crown of its head, and the criterion of the government’s success is the safety of minorities.

If anyone harms minorities or violates their rights, the state will strike with full force, she noted.

Addressing the Christmas ceremony at the Cathedral Church, she wished the Christian community a Merry Christmas and announced to increase the number of minority cards from 75,000 to 100,000.

The Chief Minister ordered immediate steps to resolve the issue of graveyards for minorities across Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that a minority-friendly Punjab should be the dream of not only Maryam Nawaz Sharif but also of every citizen living in Pakistan.

The responsibility of making Punjab minority-friendly lies more on all of us Muslims because we are in the majority.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that if someone abuses minorities, I will be a witness on behalf of the minority. What can be bigger than that?

She added that in any project, including the Dhee Rani Program, Ration Card, Honhar Scholarship, Kisan Card, no one asks about the religion of the person.
