Punjab driving license fee update — December 2024

LAHORE: In Punjab, including Lahore and Rawalpindi, obtaining a valid driving license from the relevant authorities is mandatory for all eligible citizens before hitting the road.

To get this license, applicants must clear both theoretical and practical tests. The government also charges a fee for issuing the license, which was recently hiked massively by the Punjab government.

The revised fee structure, which came into effect after a 20-year gap, has increased the fees for various types of driving licenses, including learner licenses, car and motorcycle licenses, and more.

For instance, motorcyclists will now have to pay Rs. 4900 for a 5-year license, a whopping 791% increase from the previous fee of Rs. 60.

Similarly, car and jeep owners will face an 1100% surge, with fees skyrocketing from Rs. 550 to Rs. 11400.

Driving License Fee in Lahore, Rawalpindi

Previously, the government received a Rs550 fee for a motorcycle driving license with five-year validity. Now, the authority receives Rs500 per year for a motorcycle driving license.

The government has set a fee for a car or jeep driving license at Rs1,800 every year. Previously, the fee for car a Jeep driving license stood at Rs950 for a five-year driving license.

Learner License Fee Update December 2024

The provincial government has fixed the fee for the issuance of a learner’s driving license at Rs500. Previously, the fee stood at Rs60 only.
