Lahore: The Punjab government has taken an important decision regarding lifetime pension and has restored the facility of lifetime pension for the widows and unmarried daughters of government employees. The aim of this decision is to provide permanent financial security to the families of government employees after their death.
After the approval of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Finance Department has issued an official notification of this decision. Under the new policy, the previously implemented 10-year limit has been abolished, after which deserving widows and unmarried daughters will be eligible to receive lifetime pension.
According to the notification, the payment of lifetime pension will be made under the prescribed rules and regulations. However, if a widow marries again, her pension will be stopped immediately.
The government has also clarified that if a government employee has more than one widow, the total amount of pension will be distributed equally among all deserving widows.
The Punjab government says that this decision will provide long-term financial support to thousands of deserving families and help protect the families of government employees from financial hardship.
The decision was approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by the Punjab Chief Minister, where various proposals related to the welfare of government employees were considered.
