LAHORE: The Punjab Transport Company (PTC) has taken a significant step towards going digital by implementing an online application for route permits, available through the Punjab Portal website from now on.
According to the details, applicants will eventually be able to access route permits through an app, and permit fees will be able to be submitted through various online channels.
The next phase of the paperless system will also be completed shortly, which includes the introduction of online challan (fine) payments. As with the traffic police system, PTC challans will eventually be payable digitally, allowing users to pay fines instantaneously by using the app at the time of issuance.
Fines were previously only able to be paid physically, through National Bank branches. This new digital system will help make the process easier and more efficient.
