LAHORE: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Dr. Athar Waheed has launched a new application aimed at improving the collection of e-challans and streamlining the vehicle checking process.
The app allows officers to view complete vehicle data and any outstanding e-challans by simply taking a picture of the vehicle. It is being linked to the existing Wardens app.
Earlier, this functionality was available only through LT wireless sets. Under the old system, wardens had to stop vehicles and manually enter the vehicle number, chassis number, or identity card details. With the new image-based feature, recovery is expected to improve and more vehicles can be checked in less time.
Dr. Waheed said that daily recovery has increased from Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 5 million in a month. Out of the Rs. 9.4 million in arrears of government vehicles, Rs. 3.5 million was recovered in just one month.
He also revealed that special teams had been formed to recover Rs. 6 billion in e-challan dues.
