LAHORE: To promote sports in the province, the Punjab government has started a scheme to provide free electric bikes (e-bikes) to participants of the Khailta Punjab Games.
According to sources, the Punjab Sports Department has sent a summary of the required funds to the Finance Department. A total of more than 1,596 players participated in the games and male and female players who reach the final round will be awarded electric bikes.
The government estimates that Rs500 million will be required for the purchase of e-bikes. This initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader vision to encourage youth participation in sports and promote eco-friendly transportation. This step reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to youth empowerment and green initiatives under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
