Punjab govt to provide Rs 80,000 stroke injection free in 16 hospitals
LAHORE: In a good move by the Punjab government, the most expensive TPA injection, which costs Rs 80,000 and greatly reduces the effects of stroke, will be available free of charge for 24 hours in 16 government hospitals in the province.
Arrangements have been made in 16 hospitals to inject a person suffering from a stroke. By administering the injection within 4 to 5 hours of a stroke, the patient can be saved from lifelong disability.
Hospitals providing TPA injections to stroke patients free of charge 24 hours a day include Services Hospital Lahore, Mayo Hospital Lahore, Punjab Institute of Neurosciences Lahore, and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Lahore.
Other hospitals in Punjab include Jinnah Hospital Lahore, Allied Hospital Faisalabad, Aziz Fatima Hospital Faisalabad, Nishtar Hospital Multan, and Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot.
On the other hand, this facility will be available at Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan, Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi, DHQ hospitals in Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Narowal and Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur.
