LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has started verifying the old manual arms licenses and computerized them again under the “last chance” offer for the manual license holders to digitize their registration.
The move is meant to give those who missed the earlier deadline, December 31, 2020, another chance; unregistered manual licenses were identified for cancellation after this threshold date.
“The holders of old licenses in booklet form can also apply for verification and computerization of their licenses. To this effect, the applicants have to send their requests to the Commissioner of the relevant division or the Additional Secretary-Judicial. The Home Department would then verify the records and papers of all candidates to ascertain authenticity.”
Through this repeated verification process, only the Commissioner concerned or the Additional Secretary Judicial Home Department will have authorization to verify and digitize arms licenses.
A formal written notification on every arms license shall be issued: for verification, extension, or computerization. Following verification, licenses will be obtained by the suitable candidates.
The renewal applications for all types of licenses are to be accompanied by the renewal fee mentioned in the Punjab Arms Rules 2023. NADRA would be asked to complete all the necessary arrangements for digitization, bringing more efficiency to the process.
