LAHORE: Punjab Police has introduced the first Lady Dolphin Squad to fight crime in Faisalabad, here on Saturday.
As per the details, Faisalabad Police’s transfer of traditional police duties from men to women officers is an important milestone in the empowerment of women in the society.
This is the first batch of Lady Dolphins to tackle criminals and threats to public safety on the streets of Faisalabad.
The squad members have received special training in handling 500cc heavy bikes and automatic weapons.
They will perform duties alongside their male colleagues. After completing the training, 500 women commandos will be equipped with 500cc heavy bikes and automatic weapons. They will be authorized to set up checkpoints and conduct snap checks on roads.
CPO Faisalabad said that initially the lady dolphins will patrol public places with high presence of women, such as women’s universities and markets, to facilitate easy interaction with women in these areas.
