LAHORE: As Basant is drawing near in Punjab, the Home Department has begun the process of formal registration for the makers and sellers of kites and strings, as well as the associations of kite flying.

A detailed procedure, according to the Home Department, has been prepared for the kite and string makers, sellers, and buyers, while the registration process of kite associations has been finalized.

Form “A” is required to be filled in for registration, and persons registered shall be given a certificate by the government, along with Form “B.” Likewise, Forms “C” and “D” are assigned for kite flying associations.

The Home Department asserted that the size, material, and quality of kites and strings will be strictly regulated under Schedule One.

The manufacturing and selling of low-quality or chemical-coated strings will be completely banned. The registered associations will help in Basant arrangements under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner to avoid any dangerous or prohibited activities.

The authorities explained that the violation of the rules will lead to the cancellation of registration and subsequent legal action. With this, the first phase of the rules governing a safe and organized Basant is complete.
