LAHORE: The Environmental Protection Agency of Punjab has decided to ban vehicles without Green Stickers after November 15 across the province as part of a crackdown against the causes of air pollution.

Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, said that exhaust testing has been made mandatory for all vehicles in Lahore.

He stated that from November 15, any vehicle found on the road without an Exhaust Testing System (ETS) certificate or a green sticker will be impounded.

“Only vehicles meeting Punjab’s environmental standards will be permitted to operate on the roads,” he added. The EPA has reminded motorists that both emissions and noise testing are compulsory.

The DG Environment said that a zero-tolerance policy has been implemented against environmentally unfriendly vehicles, and vehicles not certified by ETS will face legal action and seizure.

Dr. Sheikh said that EPA Punjab has launched the toughest campaign against pollution in Lahore. Citizens should immediately complete the exhaust testing of their vehicles; otherwise, the vehicles will be confiscated.
