LAHORE: The Punjab Cabinet has approved a set of allowances for the families of employees and officers who die in service, which is an important step towards the welfare of these bereaved families.
Following the Cabinet’s decision, the Punjab Finance Department issued an official notification outlining the allowances to be provided to the kin of the deceased employees.
Allowances sanctioned include House Rent Allowance, 20% Special Allowance, Medical Allowance, Utility Allowance, and Ad Hoc Relief Allowance. The purpose of these provisions is to provide financial assistance and stability to families affected by the loss of loved ones while in service.
This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar, in which Finance Secretary Mujahid Sherdil was instructed to prepare necessary proposals for these allowances.
The move follows the precedent set by the Establishment Division in February 2015, which approved various grants for officers who died in service. The new allowances approved by the Punjab Cabinet continue these efforts and provide more support to the families of government employees in the province.
