ISLAMABAD: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has predicted the onset of monsoon season across Punjab on 8 and 9 Muharram (15 and 16 July).
PDMA spokesperson said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in different districts of Punjab tonight. He has asked the organizers of Muharram processions to take precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incident.
He asked people to stay away from electric poles and wires, avoid gathering on vulnerable roofs and minimize crossing rivers and streams during these days.
Inspector General of Police Irfan Ali has directed the rescue agencies to be on high alert, especially in the hilly areas of Dera Ghazi Khan, while expressing fears of possible floods.
It should be noted that the heavy rain in Punjab on Friday has already killed 12 people.
Mourners hold processions, congregations and gatherings to pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions who were martyred in Karbala.
