ISLAMABAD: After the sighting of the crescent of Rajab al-Murajjab in the country, the countdown to Ramadan has begun, since after Rajab comes Sha’ban, followed by Ramadan, which is a highly sacred month for Muslims.
The blessed month is also foreseen to start from the 20th or 21st of February, 2026, according to the calendar, which will leave just 60 to 61 days until Ramadan arrives.
If both Rajab and Sha’ban finish their due days, the first fast is likely to start in the third week of February; however, the final announcement will be made by the Moon Sighting Committee after sighting the crescent.
According to the calendar, if Ramadan completes 30 days, Eid al-Fitr is likely to be celebrated on Sunday, March 22, 2026. If it is 29 days, Eid may be celebrated on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
The final date of the Eid will be declared by a Moon Sighting Committee after sighting the Shawwal crescent.
