ISLAMABAD: In ABN News‘ Debate 8 program, prominent Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Ramesh Singh Arora defended his party’s performance.
He claimed that Pakistan has achieved great progress on the diplomatic, defense, and economic fronts in the last year and a half.
He was replying to host Syed Qamber Zaidi’s query regarding the type of freedom Pakistanis should commemorate on August 14, given persistent worries about judicial independence, democracy, and citizen rights.
Arora criticized political opponents for selective accountability, citing how former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was imprisoned and charged with corruption.
“Now that Pakistan has come together, compare our era with theirs,” he remarked, pointing to what he claimed as improving economic data, such as the discount rate lowering from 22% to 11%.
During the debate, Zaidi highlighted comparisons between the PML-N and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) governments, noting that sugar and wheat scandals happened during both parties’ tenures.
He also brought up claims that members of the bureaucracy were substantially investing overseas, notably in Portugal.
Arora responded by denying making personal charges and focused on providing facts about how the PTI handled corruption problems involving sugar, wheat, and medications.
He also praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for initiating important initiatives in Lahore and making notable contributions to health and education during her brief tenure.
Arora stated that the PML-N’s governance performance displayed resilience and dedication to national growth in the face of political obstacles.
