ISLAMABAD: The authorities have taken a decision to open Rawal Dam’s spillways after it attained its capacity of water storage, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) informed on Monday.

The NDMA reported that the water level at Rawal Dam has increased to 1,752 feet. The release of water through the spillways will help raise the flow in the Korang Nullah.

The NDMA issued prewarnings to all concerned departments and also alerted residents of neighboring settlements on the Korang Nullah to be vigilant.

People are also being warned not to cross the nullah or use temporary bridges in the event of an increase in water level.
