RAWALPINDI: The city of Rawalpindi has finally achieved a major sports milestone with the inauguration of its first-ever international-standard swimming pool equipped with modern facilities.
As per the details, the Punjab Minister for Sports, Faisal Ayub Khokhar, inaugurated a state-of-the-art swimming pool and the newly constructed players’ hostel in the city.
Khokhar, who spoke at the event, announced that a multipurpose sports complex would be established in Rawalpindi and said similar projects would be extended to other districts of the province.
He said the players’ hostel, completed for Rs 181 million, has a capacity of 80 beds, besides all modern residential and training facilities for athletes. The swimming pool, he said, has been constructed for Rs 217 million, having a modern water filtration system, heating mechanism, and timing system, meeting international competition standards.
Khokhar highlighted the Punjab government’s vision and said the step was a reflection of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s commitment toward upgrading the sports infrastructure and uplifting athletic excellence across the province.
He said that the Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex renovation was another reflection of the government’s resolve in the revival and modernization of sports facilities within Punjab.
