Renowned Pakistani Journalist Nazir Naji Passes Away at 86

LAHORE – Nazir Naji, a veteran Pakistani journalist and esteemed columnist, breathed his last on Wednesday after battling a prolonged illness. The 86-year-old passed away at a private hospital in Lahore, where he had been undergoing treatment.

Naji’s illustrious career spanned several decades, during which he made significant contributions to the field of journalism. He was associated with various mainstream media groups, leaving a lasting impact with his insightful writings and analysis.

Having served as a senior columnist for the Urdu publication Daily Jang for 27 years, Naji earned widespread recognition for his dedication and journalistic prowess. Additionally, he held the esteemed position of Chairman of the Pakistan Academy of Letters, further highlighting his influence in the literary and intellectual spheres.

In 2012, Naji embarked on a new chapter in his career when he joined Dunya Group as Group Editor, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to the esteemed media organization.

Throughout his career, Naji received numerous accolades and honors, including the prestigious Hilal-i-Imtiaz, in recognition of his invaluable services to journalism and literature.

The passing of Nazir Naji marks the end of an era in Pakistani journalism, leaving behind a legacy of journalistic excellence and unwavering dedication to the pursuit of truth and public service.
