What Is the Saudi Arabia Skilled Worker Visa?

The Saudi Arabia Skilled Worker Visa is an employment permit granted to foreign workers employed by a registered Saudi employer. It provides qualified professionals with the opportunity to live and work legally in the Kingdom under the sponsorship of their employer (kafeel).

The visa has a lifespan of one to two years, extendable according to the employment contract, and is used as a stepping stone to securing an Iqama (residence permit).

With Vision 2030 pushing economic diversification, the visa is Saudi Arabia’s requirement for expertise in such areas as Healthcare: Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, Construction and Engineering: Civil engineers, electricians, project managers, Information Technology: Software developers, cybersecurity specialists, Oil and Gas: Petroleum engineers, technicians, Education: Teachers, education administrators, Hospitality and Tourism: Hotel managers, chefs

Eligibility Criteria for the Saudi Arabia Skilled Worker Visa

To be qualified for a Skilled Worker Visa in 2025, you need to fulfill the following conditions:

Valid Job Offer: Obtain a job offer from a Saudi employer who is enrolled with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) and can hire foreign workers.

Relevant Qualifications: Hold academic qualifications, professional licenses, or specialized training that match the position of work. 2–5 years of relevant work experience are required for the majority of the jobs.

Sponsorship: Your sponsor (kafeel) has to be your employer and apply for the visa. Age Requirements: Applicants should be at least 21 years of age. Though 55 is generally a cut-off point, exceptions hold for top professionals or targeted positions.

Health Clearance: Undergo a medical examination at an embassy-approved clinic, declaring that you are disease-free from contagious diseases (e.g., HIV, Hepatitis B/C, TB).

Clean Criminal Record: Attach a police clearance certificate (PCC) obtained in the past six months, confirming no criminal record.

Required Documents

Gather the following documents to present with your visa application:

  • Valid passport (at least six months’ validity)
  • Original job offer letter from the employer in Saudi Arabia, Employment contract, signed by both parties and stamped by the Saudi Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
  • Academic and professional certificates (e.g., degree, diploma), stamped by the Saudi Cultural Mission or the embassy in your home countr.
  • Work experience certificates (if needed), Medical test report from a Saudi embassy-approved clinic (dated within three months), Police clearance certificate (PCC, dated within six months)
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs (2×2 inches, white background, no spectacles), Completed the application form for a visa
  • Employer sponsorship letter
  • Employer-provided visa authorization slip
  • Health insurance proof (bought in Saudi Arabia, arranged by employer)
