Saudi woman from royal family goes missing in Pakistan with local man

ISLAMABAD: A Saudi woman who is said to be from the royal family has gone missing along with a local man in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lower Dir district. At the request of the Saudi diplomat, the Islamabad police have registered a case of kidnapping.

According to the reports, the Saudi diplomat Badar Al Haribi has lodged an FIR at Islamabad’s Margalla Police Station through the online FIR registration system. The complainant also provided the passport numbers of the abducted woman.

A case has been registered under section 365B of the Pakistan Penal Code against Abdul Wahid, accused of the alleged kidnapping of Hanan Abdullah Al Bashir, a woman belonging to the Saudi royal family, according to the contents of the FIR. This section deals with abducting a woman to force her into marriage.

Sources told a private media channel that the alleged link of the missing woman to the Saudi royal family has raised serious concern among higher authorities.

It has been stated in the FIR that Abdul Wahid Shahid Khan kidnapped the Saudi national Hanan Abdullah Al Bashir from the F8 sector of Islamabad. The complainant requests in the FIR to arrest the accused and to recover the Saudi national.

Acting DPO of Lower Dir district told Aaj News that the 37-year-old Saudi woman is an officer in a bank in Saudi Arabia and 22-year-old Abdul Wahid of Lower Dir was the driver with the woman. Taking strict notice of this incident, the federal government has ordered the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to immediately extradite the woman.

After the registration of the case, the SSPCIA branch of Islamabad Police along with its personnel went out with the local police in Lower Dir for the last two days. After failure, the Islamabad Police came back.

The elders of Lower Dir Khal are also searching for the Saudi woman, but so far they have not been able to find any trace.

The police have reportedly detained several members of Wahid’s family to investigate the matter. There were unconfirmed reports of a marriage between the Saudi woman and the Pakistani man. Family sources said that Wahid was already married and father of a daughter.
