ISLAMABAD: Several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members during the party’s political committee meeting on Friday pushed for the postponement of the November 24 protest in Islamabad.
Daily Ausaf learned that several senior party leaders were in favour of canceling the protest and put forward their recommendation to the political committee during last night’s meeting.
A delegation of senior party members including Barrister Gohar Khan, Ali Muhammad Khan, and Latif Khosa tried to meet former prime minister Imran Khan in Adiala Jail to convince him to postpone the Islamabad demonstration but they failed to meet the party founder, sources told Daily Ausaf.
Furthermore, party sources said that party workers have been informed to remain calm ahead of the protest as it won’t take longer than a day or two.
Additionally, sources privy to the development said that talks with the establishment regarding the release of imprisoned senior party leader Yasmin Rashid have been successful.
The negotiation between the establishment and former ruling PTI regarding the release of Imran Khan has been ongoing on a high level despite statements to the contrary and there are bright chances that Sunday’s protest can be canceled or delayed, sources confirmed.
