ISLAMABAD: SEPCO says that net metering users should be charged a fixed charge of Rs 1,000 per kilowatt.
According to a private news channel, after PESCO and MAPCO, HESCO and SEPCO have also submitted applications for recovery of fixed charges.
SEPCO says that net metering users depend on the National Grid when backup supply or solar generation is low, net metering users do not pay grid maintenance costs, and non-solar users are paying more fixed costs due to cross-subsidization.
The document states that the increase in net metering users is also affecting SEPCO’s revenue, and there is a request to impose fixed charges of Rs 7,000 on 7 kW users.

It is proposed to levy network charges on the units loaded or exported by the consumer, and a gross metering framework has also been proposed to eliminate cross-subsidies.
