ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has been called for March 19 to sight the Shawwal moon.
The meeting will be chaired by Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, while the meeting will be attended by scholars of all schools of thought, representatives of the Meteorological Department, and relevant institutions.
The meeting will examine the evidence received from across the country for the sighting of the moon. On the other hand, meetings of the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will be held in the relevant cities.
The Zonal Committees will review the evidence received regarding the sighting of the moon in their areas and inform the Central Committee, after which the Central Committee will announce the sighting of the moon of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Suparco says that the Shawwal moon will be sighted at 6:23 am on March 19. The age of the moon at sunset on March 19 will be approximately 12 hours and 41 minutes.
According to Suparco, the chances of seeing the Shawwal moon on the evening of March 19 are low, this year there are likely to be 30 fasts, while Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to be on March 21.
Suparco has clarified that the final sighting of the Shawwal moon will be announced by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
