KARACHI:  The Sindh High Court has suspended the decision of the University of Karachi regarding the cancellation of the degree of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri.

The Sindh High Court heard a petition against the cancellation of the degree of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, in which the Registrar of the University of Karachi, Professor Imran Siddiqui, appeared in the court.

During the hearing, the Registrar of the University of Karachi told the court that we received the notice the day before yesterday, we should be given time to respond, to which Justice Iqbal Kalhoro asked How much time do you need to respond

We are giving you time, but what will happen if any action is taken against the petitioner during this time?

On this occasion, Barrister Salahuddin said that the parties should be given time to respond, but until then, the order should be suspended.

Justice Iqbal Kalhoro said that if the order is later returned, how will the loss caused to the petitioner be redressed? Who will be responsible for this? Here, the lifetime earnings of a servant are at stake. Was the affected party given notice on the degree issue?

The registrar said that my posting is new, I am not aware of it, to which Justice Iqbal said that if you have come to the court, then you will have to answer, action may have been taken against the applicant due to personal interest, if someone applies after 30,35 years, then the affected person should not be called, a court decision made without hearing the parties is also of no importance, an ex parte judgment is not considered a good judgment.

Later, the court suspended the decision of the University of Karachi to cancel the degree of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri and adjourned further hearing of the application till November 20.
