KARACHI: The Sindh Agriculture Department has cancelled all leave for officers and staff amid the flood threat.
Rain emergency cells have been established in each province, and a focal person has also been appointed, according to Sindh Agricultural Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Maher.
He directed officials to remain on duty in all districts, including Larkana, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, and Shaheed Benazirabad, while daily reports will be submitted to Agriculture Secretary Muhammad Zaman Narejo.
Officials from the Agriculture Department’s engineering section have been directed to maintain bulldozers and machinery on standby, assuring a rapid delivery of equipment to district administrations when needed.
The emergency plan would be implemented under the supervision of the DG Agriculture, Sindh.
Sardar Muhammad Bux Maher went on to say that authorities must work closely with the PDMA and other organizations, adding that flood-hit farmers in Sindh will receive urgent support.
He also stated that climate change has exacerbated flood threats in the country, making preparedness critical.
The Sindh Chief Minister has also appointed ministers to work on the left and right banks of the rivers.
Emergency plans will remain in place to enable a timely response for farmers in the event of a calamity.
