Sindh govt extends school timing changes due to severe cold

KARACHI: In view of the severity of the cold in Sindh, including the provincial capital Karachi, the decision to change the working hours of schools has been extended.

The Sindh School Education Department has issued a new notification regarding the extension of the decision to change the working hours of schools.

According to the notification, schools across Sindh, including Karachi, will open at 9 am until February 4. The decision will apply equally to government and private schools.

The Sindh School Education Department has said that the aim of the decision is to protect students and teachers from the possible effects of cold weather, and strict implementation of the issued schedule should be ensured.

It should be noted that earlier, in view of the severe cold in Sindh, the working hours of government and private schools were changed from January 11 and the notification issued stated that schools will open at 9 am while their closing time will remain as usual.

The notification stated that the decision would be effective from Monday, January 11, to January 26, however, due to the ongoing cold wave, the decision to start educational activities in private and government schools across the province from 9 a.m. has been extended until February 4.
