Rain, snowfall alert issued as weather system enters Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The rain-bearing system has entered the country, the Meteorological Department has predicted rain and snowfall in different parts of the country.

According to the Meteorological Department, more rain and snowfall is likely in the upper parts of the country from today to tomorrow, and a landslide alert has also been issued due to rain and snowfall.

There is a possibility of rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in Islamabad at night, rain is expected in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu and surrounding areas.

More snowfall is expected in Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad and Shangla, rain and snowfall have been predicted in Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galiyat, Neelum Valley and Bagh.

More rain and snowfall is likely in Poonch and Haveli areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, more snowfall is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah and Qila Saifullah.

Rain and snowfall have resumed in many areas of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with roads likely to be closed due to snowfall in Noshki, Harnai and Zhob.

There is a risk of landslides in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, another spell of rain and snowfall has begun in various districts of Balochistan including Quetta.

Rain and snowfall has begun in Quetta, Kalat, Mastung, Kan Mehtarzai, Muslim Bagh and Chaman, with the rains causing flooding in the rivers and canals of the mountainous areas.

The PDMA has issued an alert to the relevant districts of Balochistan, PDMA says that heavy machinery is present on the national highways along with its staff.

PDMA has asked citizens to avoid unnecessary travel on national highways, the Emergency Response Center in Kan Mehtarzai and Quetta is active 24 hours a day, food, blankets and other relief materials have been delivered to the relevant districts.
