Speeding dumper kills young man, injures sister in Karachi

KARACHI: A tragic turn of events, a road accident involving a speeding dumper has claimed the life of a young man and left his sister severely injured in Karachi.

The incident occurred in Shah Latif Town near Mateen Complex, where the dumper hit a motorcycle, resulting in the death of 24-year-old Hasnain and injuring his 13-year-old sister, Hijab.

According to the rescue officials when a dumper hit the motorcycle, it killed Hasnain, 24 years old, and injured Hijab, 13 years.

Hijab is a martial arts player who had topped her competition just that morning and was celebrating with her brother.

Hasnain was the only son of his parents together with two sisters, the father of Hasnain works in Saudi Arabia, and they live in Landhi, said Hasnain’s friend, Syed Amees.

Hasnain was studying intermediate, while his injured sister is in middle school. The incident has opened the portal to the condonation of the safety of roads in Karachi with ref to heavy vehicles, including dumpers.

Sindh has decided to impose a ban on the entry of dumpers in the Karachi city limits during day hours, with an emergency meeting called by Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Hyder Shah to address traffic issues.

According to that decision, the entry into Karachi will be between 11 PM and 6 AM; this is designed to mitigate the high rate of road accidents caused by heavy vehicles and restore order to the traffic of the city.

An emergency meeting was held by Sindh’s Chief Secretary, Asif Hyder Shah, to address a growing number of concerns over road safety and preventing a future occurrence of such tragedies, and to restore order in the city traffic.
