KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) has announced a temporary reduction in gas load shedding hours for citizens in Karachi to facilitate households ahead of the Day of Arafa.

According to the company, special arrangements have been made to ensure smoother gas availability for Sehri preparations.

SSGC officials stated that gas supply will remain available during Sehri hours, and supply to consumers will be restored from 3:00 am, allowing residents to prepare meals without disruption.

The company clarified that this relief measure will remain in effect for a limited period only, while the regular gas shutdown schedule will resume after 10:00 am on May 26.

Following the announcement, many residents expressed partial relief, although concerns regarding gas shortages and recurring load shedding continue among domestic consumers.

Meanwhile, sources have indicated concerns that gas load management may continue during Eid-ul-Azha as well; however, no official schedule has been issued in this regard.

Consumers are hoping for improved gas availability during the Eid holidays to avoid difficulties in meeting household needs.

Energy experts noted that rising demand and limited gas availability remain key reasons behind continued load shedding and stressed the importance of long-term planning to address supply challenges.
