Supreme Court employees get 100% increase in utility allowance

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan’s employees’ utility allowance has been increased by 100 percent, according to media reports.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan has approved a 100 percent increase in the utility allowance of Supreme Court employees, a notification of which has also been issued.

According to the notification, the increase in the utility allowance of employees will be effective from July 1, 2026. The allowance for grades one to six has been increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000, and the allowance for grades seven to ten has been increased from Rs 8,000 to Rs 16,000.

The allowance of employees of the Supreme Court from Grades 11 to 15 has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000, the allowance of Grade 16 officers from Rs 12,000 to Rs 24,000, the utility allowance of Grade 17 officers from Rs 15,000 to Rs 30,000, while the allowance of Grade 18 officers has been increased from Rs 18,000 to Rs 36,000.

Similarly, the allowance of Grade 19 officers has been increased from Rs 21,000 to Rs 42,000, the allowance of Grade 20 officers from Rs 24,000 to Rs 48,000, and the allowance of Grade 21 and above officers from Rs 30,000 to Rs 60,000.

The notification states that the utility allowance includes gas and electricity expenses; the additional expenses will be met from the approved budget for the financial year 2027-2026.
