PESHAWAR: The militant involved in the attack on District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Khalid Khan has been killed in a police operation on Saturday in the Naryab area of Hangu.

The terrorist involved in the attack on the DPO was killed by firing from his own accomplices, the police said.

The event follows an intense gunfight between terrorists and security officials in the Shinawari Zargari neighborhood of Hangu on July 19.

DPO Khalid, who was in charge of the operation, was taken to Peshawar for medical attention after being shot three times during the fight.

Nine terrorists were eliminated by the security forces during the gunfight.

Earlier, the ISPR said that from July 16 to 20, security forces in collaboration with police, Levies, CTD, and district administration successfully conducted a joint intelligence-based operation in Malakand district, targeting the presence of terrorists affiliated with the Indian proxy group Fitna-ul-Khawarij.

According to the army’s media wing, the four-day operation involved skillful maneuvering and several intense firefights, resulting in the elimination of nine Indian-backed militants and the arrest of eight others.

Two hideouts of the terrorists were also destroyed, and a large quantity of arms, ammunition, and explosives were recovered.

The locals of the area welcomed the operation and expressed their full support for the state’s counter-terrorism efforts.

A sanitization operation is currently underway to ensure the complete elimination of the remaining elements of the group.
