ISLAMABAD: In a joint statement, three former prime ministers including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf have asked the Islamabad administration and police not to become a party in politics.

The statement was issued by Pakistan Muslim League-N Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Friday.

The trio warned that Prime Minister Imran Khan and Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed would be responsible if police raided the Sindh House on Friday night.

“We warn the interior secretary, police and administration officials to not to become a part of any political process. If police and administration become parties in the constitutional process of no-trust motion, then it will amount to violation of the constitution,” they said adding that those who would violate the constitution, or assist in such a bid, they should be ready for punishment.

The three ex-PMs said harassment of members of the house by police would be considered to be assault on the parliament. Serious consequences would emerge, if the action of parliament lodges was repeated at the Sindh House, they warned. They blamed that Imran Khan was preparing to abduct MNAs with the help of police and administration as he could not bring 172 members.

“The hooliganism is declaration that Imran Khan has lost the majority and confidence of the house. Everyone is leaving the one who said, ‘I will not spare anyone’,” they said.
