KARACHI: Three people were injured in a gas explosion in a sewerage line near Karachi’s Mahmoodabad Gate on Friday.

The injured have been shifted to a hospital for treatment where they are being provided medical aid.

The incident comes six days after 17 people were killed and several others injured in an explosion, which took place when a gas pipeline exploded due to the filling of gas in a drain near Sher Shah Paracha Bridge, Karachi.

On Saturday, a powerful explosion tore through the premises of a private bank in the Shershah area.

The building, located near Paracha Chowk, was built on a sewerage drain and the powerful blast caused severe damage to the bank. Most of the customers and employees were either killed or suffered injuries.

According to the initial report of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), the explosion was caused by a build-up of gas in the drain.
