YouTubers booked for skipping probe into illegal apps promotion

ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber ​​Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has booked three more YouTubers and social media influencers for allegedly promoting illegal online trading applications.

According to NCCIA officials, cases have been registered against Iqra Kanwal alias Sisterology, Nadeem Mubarak alias Naniwala, and Muhammad Hasnain Shah.

The suspects encouraged the public to put money in fraudulent mobile apps promising high profits but were not legally registered, the officials said.

The investigation agency summoned the YouTubers thrice to record their statements; however, they deliberately avoided joining the investigation.

Law enforcement has formed special teams to arrest the suspects.

Earlier on Wednesday, the NCCIA had booked three YouTubers for their alleged involvement in unregulated online trading and gambling apps, and skipping the probe.

The agency has registered cases against YouTubers Rajab Butt, Anas, and Huraira under sections of PECA.

The agency said that all three YouTubers failed to appear during the inquiry, it said and added that the cases had been registered and steps had been initiated to bring the accused back to Pakistan.

The NCCIA has already arrested YouTuber Saad ur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, and YouTuber Mudassar Hassan for allegedly promoting the gambling apps, encouraging the youth to invest in schemes that lack regulatory cover.
